The summer of 2016, Aryanna and her father, Eli Gourdin, made an African hunting trip and successfully and legally hunted a giraffe and a zebra. After returning back from her hunting trip, she posted several pictures on Facebook of her prey that she had successfully hunted. In a matter of days, she received 75,000 hate comments on her post. Many of the hateful comments were death threats. The news media promoted this incident quickly and publicly. Eli, her father, said that all the meat was donated to the African tribe. Aryanna vows that she will never stop hunting.
